Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds"carried the streak into 1975, John Lennon performed it live with Elton at Madison Square Garden, Thanksgiving 1974, in what turned out to be Lennon's last live concert performance. It was the payoff of a bet Elton had with Lennon. Elton bet John that if "Whatever Gets You Through The Night" would go to number one he would appear with Elton at New York's Madison Square Garden. It did and John followed through. It's also the night that John and Yoko got back together.
Elton performed "Bennie and The Jets" on Soul Train becoming the first white artist to appear on that program.
