Some quick Elton's Top 40 Streak facts;

There are no hard and fast rules when it comes to Elton's Top 40 Streak, the only rule that applies is at least one song in the Top 40 each year. It doesn't have to be a different song each year. It doesn't have to be a single released in the same year. It doesn't have to be a solo performance, a duet is ok..

"Written In The Stars" debuted at #37 on the Billboard Hot 100 March 6, 1999 to extend Elton's Top 40 Streak to an incredible 30 years.

During the 30 years of the streak, 13 times the streak was extended with carry-over singles, singles that debuted in the Top 40 the previous year.

In 11 of the 13 years where Elton had a carry-over single, a subsequent single debuted in the Top 40, ensuring that the streak would have extended. The only two years where a carry-over single made the only Top 40 appearance was 1996 when "Blessed" extended the streak to 27 years and 1998 when "Something About The Way You Look Tonight/Candle In The Wind 1997" extended the streak to 29 years.

The longest time between carry-over singles was a span of 6 years from 1978-1983 starting with "Ego" and ending with "I'm Still Standing."

The longest streak of carry-over singles was a span of 5 years from 1973-1977 starting with "Crocodile Rock" and ending with "Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word."

Three times a single extended the streak over 2 years, "Your Song" from 1970-1971, "Dont' Let The Sun Go Down On Me" w/George Michael from 1991-1992 and "Something About The Way You Look Tonight/Candle In The Wind 1997" from 1997-1998.
